Water Abstraction plan published

This joint plan, published by Defra and the Environment Agency, explains how we will reform abstraction management in England over the coming years. The plan sets out how the Environment Agency will address unsustainable abstraction, improve access to water and modernise the abstraction service.

The abstraction plan and supporting documents are available online at:

Over the coming months we will be engaging with abstractors and environmental groups to discuss our approach and begin implementation. We look forward to working with many of you as we do so.
